Life on the Thames River (Estuary), New London, Connecticut

Access link above to get an aerial view of the fort.

Land-side view

.....a 3-Masted Fort?

America's Tall Ship, Coast Guard Barque "Eagle"

Back from it's summer training cruise, moored at the base of the fort.

(The best photo of the "Eagle", with Fort Trumbull sitting stately in the background, is possible only from the opposite side of the river. However, the best photo location is in a secure zone at the submarine manufacturer, Electric Boat--General Dynamics, seen in the background. Since I don't have the proper security clearances, I could not take the preferred photo.)

I can imagine that the fort would make a stunning background to the tall ship. The pic of the fort with the masts sticking out are stunning as well.

Nice to know that there is another river Thames :-) (I bet I know where the settlers came from).

The fort looked strong, but what I really enjoyed was that barque. I have a weak spot for ships like that.

Dear friend,
Sorry for being late to write to you, but summer in Greece is still here .. Swims every day. And my children come often.
I am glad you are all well and the hurricane and the storm did not hurt at home.
Your photographs of New London and "Eagle" are fantastic!!!
We made a trip to Italy, Austria and Germany. Now preparing the photos for the blog.
Many kisses
