Mainland Scotland -- Lighthouses

As we began to move into more open sea, we caught a glimpse of the last lighthouses on mainland Scotland.

Yes, this was the highlite of our Edinburgh visit this time. We had tried to visit Holyrood many times before. This time it was open for viewing.

Queen Elizabeth II was arriving the following day. Huge hanging baskets of flowers enhanced the beauty of the castle. This is her Edinburgh residence.

The ship docked at Rosyth, Scotland, to visit Edinburgh. Since we had visited Edinburgh several times before, we opted for a tour that included Holyrood Palace. These are some scenes along the way to Holyrood.

Newcastle, End of Day

Time to return to the ship and move on to Edinburgh.

 

I have never seen a roundabout which included a small park and passenger walkway underground in the center. Perhaps there are many in England, but I was fascinated by this one in Newcastle.

 

We learned to admire and respect the determination of the Bonds who went on many of the tours with us. They were walking in front of us as we returned to the ship. We were sorry to see them return home when we arrived in New York.
